Gallery Guide: My New York Summer Favorites
Summer is coming to an end, and these are 3 outdoor galleries/day trips I am visiting before the season ends.
Dia Beacon
Riggio Galleries|3 Beekman Street, Beacon, New York
Dia Beacon is a special gallery located outside of NY. I have been dying to go but haven't been allowed the right time. To be honest this place doesn't get the hype it should, it's full of designers and artists that have paved the way for architecture and design today. My perfect day at Dia would ideally start with walking through Richard Serra ‘Ellipses’ and making my way through the Andy Warhol pieces. Do not miss out on the bookshop, you’ll find a collection of design books to die for.
These are just two examples of the long-term view exhibits at Dia Beacon, I would suggest spending the day there and really experiencing the space. There is everything from Louise Bourgeois to Donald Judd to some incredible sculptural pieces.
MoMa PS1
22-25 Jackson Avenue Long Island City, Queens
I’ve had my eye set on this one! Such a must and free to all new yorkers! MoMa PS1 really brings new artist and embraces the new age! So much newness and outdoor installations that are such a great see while in NY.
I would make sure you see the one and only Turrell installation that’s here!
Make sure to follow me on ig: Spacesandplaces.jpg for allthe details and guides :)
Noguchi Museum
9-01 33rd Road (at Vernon Boulevard)| Long Island City, New York 11106
From learning about it at school to actually experiencing it, I cant put into words how incredible I was to see Noguchi’s work in person. I went on a Sunday with some of my best friends and we had the best time. Every piece and sculpture has a story and its so cool to see the different use of materiality through his career. You don’t want o miss it, its worth the trip!
