Design Digest: Yoshimoto Nara's Exhibit at The Guggenheim Bilbao
My sister went on a solo trip to Bilbao and I couldn't let her miss out on this one exhibition.
A couple of weeks ago, my sister planned a trip to Bilbao while studying abroad. I mentioned that Yoshimoto Nara’s largest exhibition to date was being held at the Guggenheim Bilbao, and I told her it was something she couldn’t miss. While organizing her trip, she discovered that her favorite artist, Rita Payés, was giving a concert in the Museum Atrium, which only solidified her decision. Her trip eventually became a solo journey, and I’m so glad she chose to go alone. There’s something truly special about exploring a new city and getting lost in it by yourself; it can shift your perspective and change the way you see the world.

When she arrived and began walking through the city, she quickly realized that Bilbao, though small, was full of life and charming little corners. On the day of her visit to the Guggenheim, she kept texting me, expressing how amazed she was to be standing in such an iconic space, surrounded by so much art. She felt incredibly grateful for the opportunity to experience it and I felt incredibly lucky to hear all about it. Spaces like this are part of why I love to highlight their significance—art has a unique power to evoke emotions and create profound feelings in a way that nothing else can.
These are a couple of the pieces she saw, and I can truly say I'm jealous—in the best way possible!
